  1. Hi Jen,

I'm so inspired by your posts! I only wish the ends of my hair were as healthy and luscious as yours. My daily regime is almost exact to yours and weekly conditioning too, however because I kept my "just shoulder length hair" swinging around my shoulders, my precious ends began to break and now I'm left with half a head of relaxed hair (poor ends) and half a head of a mini afro. It's madness. Do you have any tips?

  2. P.S I now keep my hair in a daily protective bun (what little of it I have left) and moisturise + nourish with coconut oil + protein conditioner, except I fear that damage is irreversible. Is it?

I also stretch 8-9 weeks between relaxers.

  3. Hey Anon, keeping your hair up and off your shoulders and away from your clothes is great. I was stuck at shoulder length for years because I wore my hair down all the time and never moisturized them. The damage is not irreparable, trust me. My ends were so raggedy when I first started out. Here's a link to a pic of my ends: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/foBm_BRRaLrsXZwBm5gPJA?feat=directlink

I felt like they'd never grow and remain healthy but I keep them moisturized and away from clothing and trimmed when needed. I moisture my ends every other day and apply a little oil to them when I feel they're a little rough and dry. When I deep condition I make sure I get my ends and then loosely pin them to the top of my head so the heat from the heat cap really reaches them.

Keep protecting your ends and keeping them moisturized. If you're not already doing so, I'd also say cover your hair at night with satin or silk scarf to help your hair and ends retain moisture. Let me know if I can be more helpful!

  4. Thanks Jen! Right now, my ends resemble that photograph you sent.

I've been wearing a protective bun for a month now, only taking it out softly to comb it with a wide toothed come and moisturise/oil everyday. I'll take the recommendations of the silk/satin scarf too.

    Good luck with your journey!

  8. I wish i knew how to even put my hair in a protective bun... i feel so dumb about doing hair. my hair is slightly over shoulder length and it used to be much longer but someone cut it and it hasnt grown back since like 8 years. but it is healthy...just not as long as i want it
