I was wondering if you do any protective styles during that season because I notice you don't talk about extensions. Do you experience any problems with wearing your own hair during this period?
If I'm wearing my hair down for the day, I put my hair up in a loose bun when I'm outside to keep it away from my coat, then just take down the bun once I'm indoors. If I'm bunning for the day (which I most am during the winter) I moisturize, seal, and throw my hair up into a bun before I leave my place.
Thanks for responding.
Great post and right on time. I was wondering if I should retire my Whipped Cream Ends by Hairveda and I think I will until the spring. Thanks for the great tips, Jeni!P.S. - Kerapro is on sale at Sally's this month.
Hi Jeni! I've nominated you for the Liebster Award :) Check out my blog for details. http://hattershairjourney.blogspot.com/2012/12/liebster-award.html
I use a applicator tip for my shampoo too. It makes it so much easier.
Hi Jeni. Can you please recommend some good humectant-free moisturisers (that aren't from the "strictly available in the US" brands like Darcy's or Silk Dreams)?
hey Jen,i'm not sure why but my hair only seems to respond to moisturisers that contain humectants. I've been using s-curl since april and my hair loves it. But now that its getting colder...not so much. I would have tried the moisturiser you suggested above but I live in the UK and I don't think we have it here. any tips?
Hi there, a huge chunk of the moisturizers I've tried are from homemade vendors but I'm not sure which ones ship to the UK :/ There are a number of UK members of the JGA forum. I've started a thread for you asking them where they purchase their moisturizers. Here's the link http://justgrowalreadyforum.com/topic189.htmlHope this helps!
thank you :)
Just wanted to say that I love your blog and I tried a tea rinse for the first time yesterday. I used regular Lipton tea, rinsed it out then applied my leave-in (Knot Today). My roller set came out soft and shiny. I think tea rinses are a keeper for me. I'm glad it didn't make my hair stiff after rinsing, I just saw that you dc after tea rinsing.
Glad to hear your tea rinse went well!
Hi,Jen just beginning my hair journey so as you should know there's alot I have to learn could you tell me what are some good moisturizers that doesn't contain humectants

Hi Jen! I wanted to know how to identify if your leave in is a humectant moisturizer. I am currently using ORS Incredibly Rich Moisturizing Lotion, Kinky-Curly knot today, Kanechom Ceramidas leave in. I usually rotate from day to day not in a specific order just pick which one I want to use on any given day. Thank So much for your help. Im new to the hair journey process so I rely on your blog for everything
