Argan Oil Looks Pretty Interesting

I've been working extremely hard at curbing the product junkie in me and I've been doing pretty well but more and more, argan oil keeps calling my name. Hair care lines are introducing new products that focus on argan oil, blog posts are popping up about this wonderful little oil. I thought I was immune but I'm throwing in the towel, yep. I googled argan oil and did a little research:

What is argan oil?
Argan oil is loaded with essential fatty acids like linoleic acid, which is the precursor of vitamin E. This makes it well-known for its anti-aging, moisturizing and antioxidant properties. It has been scientifically proved that argan oil is able to correct the age related deficiencies in skin that cause dehydration and loss of skin elasticity. It is found to contain 700 mg per kilogram of tocopherols that is twice the amount found in olive oil. It is a natural antioxidant and can stimulate intracellular oxygenation. This helps neutralize the free radicals and protects the soft tissue. The nutrient content of the skin is restored with the help of argan oil tropical application. [source]

Argan Oil Benefits for Hair
  • Say good-bye to frizzy hair forever with just 1-2 drops of argan hair applied to hair. Split ends can be avoided using argan oil and damaged hair can be restored. Argan oil health benefits for hair also include providing an remarkable shine to dull hair. It not only prevents hair damage due to styling and outdoor activities, but also improves elasticity and reduces hair loss due to breakage. [source]
  • Argan oil hydrates the hair in a natural way. It stops the curliness and roughness of hair in an efficient way.
  • Argan oil penetrates into the hair pores or shafts and enhances the elasticity of hair. It also proves to be very nourishing for the growth of hair.
  • Argan oil is very good for uncontrollable and unmanageable hair. It restores the smoothness of hair and makes them manageable again.
  • Natural antioxidants present in Argan oil strengthen the hair by repairing the damaged cellular membrane of hair.
  • Presence of Vitamin E in Argan oil makes it a tremendous agent for hair treatment. Many external and internal agents like heat, over styling and oxidization damage the hair. Vitamin E present in Argan oil is very useful in restoring the natural hair and renewing and repairing the damage caused by destructive agents.
  • Researchers believe that non-greasy Argan oil locks the moisture in and adds to and restores the luster and shine of hair.
  • Color treatment of hair causes certain damage to hair, makes them brittle and takes away the smoothness. It is an additional benefit of Argan oil that it cures the brittle hair and increases the life of color treated hair. In this job it even surpasses in competitiveness from Jojoba oil.
  • Rich contents of unsaturated fatty acids like Omega 3 and Omega 9 in Argan oil are a direct source of essential nutritional components for hair pores and roots. These unsaturated fatty acids strengthen the protein bonding structures in hair thereby improving strength of hair and healing the split ends of hair. [source]
My next way day is next Sunday and I've decided to try out argan oil with Organix's Moroccan's Argan Oil line. I grab the products from my local CVS tomorrow. Hopefully CVS has them stocked, if not, I'll try Target, I believe they're sold there as well. I love Organix's Coconut Milk line so I'm hoping this line rewards me and hair with warm fuzzy goodness as well. The products in the line are the • Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil • Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner and • Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment.

I'll keep you all posted on how it goes!

All the best,

  1. I am always excited when people learn about Argan Oil. I have been a fan since childhood and have used it for my hair, skin and nails. I believe it is important that everyone read carefully the ingredients in all the so-called "Argan Oil" treatments. Too often they will have all sorts of things you really don't want. My recommendation is to use ONLY 100% Argan Oil. There is really nothing better in my mind for treating dry hair, skin and more. You can find a wealth of information at www.zakiasmorocco.com. Regardless of where one buys always remember to get the real thing.

  4. I did a search, I would try using it as a pre-poo, applying to ends first and work up and then wrap your hair in a hot towel for about 30 minutes before you wash, or maybe even just try it out first by applying a couple drops to your hands and then applying the oil to your ends. Argan oil is supposed to be nourishing and restores elasticity so just seeing how it works on your ends may be a good indicator of how your hair reacts to it.

HTH! Let me know it goes!

  8. Jojoba oil seems to be one of my favorite oils, along with coconut oil. I have not tried argan oil yet. I have been reading alot about it. I have started using a scalp oil that is packed with vitamins, like Biotin, Vitamin D, and aloe vera and jojoba oil. It is an all natural product. One day I will break down and argan oil, is it very thick?

  9. Do you use Argan Oil when your hair is wet or when it is dry? Thanks!

  10. You should be using Argan Oil on your hair when it is dry. Try it before going to bed. Rub in small amounts into your scalp and all the way to the ends. Leave it overnight and then shampoo. Using an Argan Shampoo and conditioner will also help. You will really notice the difference.

  11. I have recently discovered Argan oil and it is nothing short of a miracle! I bleach my hair (only ever the roots) but it was heat that was doing the damage but as my hair just goes into major frizz mode normally I have always had no choice but to straighten it, that was until I found Argan oil! I put it on my dry hair every night and morning shampoo and condition with Argan containing products and now can leave it to dry naturally and it just has a lovely wave to it not to mention it looks healthy and shiny and has grown about half an inch in 3 weeks! I noticed a difference from the very first time I used it and I don't think I could manage without it now! I am recommending it to anyone that will listen to me! Although I initially bought it just for my hair I've also got extremely dry skin that I normally have to use prescription emollients on so thought I'd try it as a moisteriser as well and since I started using it on my skin that's improved dramatically as well! Plus I love the fact that a little 50ml bottle has taken the place in my overnight bag of my hair dryer, straightners, heat protector, finishing product, facial moisturiser and body lotions and potions! Rather than paying beauty cosmetic prices for it check out your local health food shop worked out a lot cheaper for me to buy it this way! Hope this helps def def give it a try :)

  12. I love Argan oil, I bought a bottle of pure argan oil in Morocco in a countryside factory, where I could see the women working on the seeds to make the oil. This was fascinating!
